Twenty-one years ago we launched with absolutely no intention of becoming a company. We thought the global demand for a floorless tarp/tent would be maybe a few dozen a year and that this would just be a fun little side hobby and distraction from our real jobs in the real world. I still remember how shocked we were at receiving a couple of dozen orders on day one. As we celebrate 20 years with 20 current models, we are excited to offer a 21st model and a return to that very first shelter. The Preamble is the original Tarptent design but tent’gineered to high  performance and made with 20D silicone coated polyester  ("silpoly”), pressure rated to over 3,000mm, for sag-free performance.

This shelter was designed to be used with trekking poles. For non-trekking pole users, we offer an optional 4 oz / 113 g pole for the front and 1-ounce pole for the rear. Is the Preamble "stuffable"? Yes, the Preamble does not have any internal structure and therefore can be "stuffed" into any compartment or pack. Can this shelter really fit two people? Yes. The interior will fit two standard width sleeping pads (76 in x 20 in / 193 cm x 51 cm). Are there any additional pullout points for extra staking? The Preamble has hem edge loops for additional guylines. Does this Tarptent accommodate tall people (over 6 ft 3 in / 190.5 cm)? Sitting up, you'll feel crunched if you are over 6 ft 3 in / 1.88 m. Laying down, the full interior length (92 in / 233 cm ) is usable due to vertical end walls.
